Sausalito, CA (PRWeb) November 17, 2006 -- Now through March 1, 2007, the Marin Headlands hostel is offering a second night at half price to guests staying one night at regular price, for stays falling Sunday through Wednesday. This winter special is a perfect excuse for a 'sick day' or extended weekend, providing an affordable and convenient way to escape to the great outdoors… without leaving behind the comforts of home. Groups of more than ten and stays falling on federal holidays are excluded from this offer. Guests should call the hostel directly to book at the discounted rate: 415.331.2777 or toll-free 888.GO.HIUSA.
"Winter is a season of undiscovered beauty in the Headlands," says Hanna Morris, deputy manager of the hostel. "We're offering this special rate to encourage visitors to explore the peaceful solitude this park has to offer."
Those who take advantage of the hostel's winter special will have the exceptional opportunity to explore the Marin Headlands during the less crowded days of the week. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore miles of trails leading from the front steps of the hostel to deep within the grassy hills and densely forested areas of the park. Visitors can learn about the rich history of the area, ranging from cultural displays of the indigenous Miwok tribes to the Nike Missile site, one of 280 built in the Cold War era as the last line of defense against Soviet bombers. Families can enjoy playtime at the nearby beach or visit the newly opened Marine Mammal Visitors Center, designed to educate the public about the work done at the Center's rescue and rehabilitation hospital for stranded sea animals.
The Marin Headlands Hostel boasts a number of amenities that allow guests to get away while keeping all the comforts of home close at hand. A large self-service kitchen, comfy couches, ping-pong and pool tables, and a woodstove create a welcoming environment where guests from around the world can come together and relax. With regular rates for private rooms starting at $60, and dorm beds priced at $20 for adults and $10 for kids, the Marin hostel provides a unique traveling experience that is outside the box, but within the budget.
The Marin Headlands Hostel is an Authorized Concessioner of the National Park Service and is operated by the Golden Gate Council of Hostelling International USA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting intercultural understanding, environmental stewardship, and world peace through travel.
