Manchester, UK (PRWEB) November 17, 2006 -- The managing director of Manchester based Health & Home Shopping®, Joanne Moores, has raised £6,442.14 for the Variety Club of Great Britain, with help from Parceline.
Joanne took part in the 26 mile Robin Hood Marathon in Nottingham in September, and Parceline has equally matched the amount of money that Joanne raised. Joanne's husband David works for Parceline, which has raised over £800,000 for the Variety Club of Great Britain over the past 14 years.
Joanne, who isn't usually a marathon runner, said, "training for the marathon was really hard, but I was inspired by Parceline's commitment to the Variety Club and completed the 26 mile run in 4 hours 7 minutes and 39 seconds."
Before training for the marathon started in June, Joanne said she was hoping to raise £2,000 for the Variety Club, but with the help of Parceline this amount has now tripled.
Joanne has previously helped to raise funds for charities including shelter and cancer research.
The Variety Club of Great Britain was formed in 1949, has raised more than £170 million and made a real difference to children's lives throughout the UK.
Parceline is a next-day express parcels carrier with over 4,000 employees in the UK.
Health & Home Shopping provides online and offline shopping catalogues for residents of the UK.
